Powerboat Advanced

Located in the pretty port of Golfe-Juan, Riviera Sea School boasts a very special powerboat course venue, situated right in between the famous yachting hub of Antibes and the beautiful bay of Cannes.

Course Description

The Powerboat Advanced course is the final step in the RYA National Powerboat Scheme and has been specifically designed for experienced powerboaters, pleasure and professional aiming to reach that next level in powerboating. This course is ideal for those wishing to undertake more adventurous passages or for professional yacht crew required to drive large tenders or chase boats. Participation in this course will provide you with extensive knowledge and skills in boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation during the day and at night.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be awarded with your Powerboat Advanced course completion certificate. It is important to note however that should you wish to commercially endorse your certificate you will be subject to a further one day exam in order to achieve the Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence. To be eligible for this exam you will be required to have obtained the following sea time: 20 days at sea, 2 days as skipper, 400 miles and 12 night hours. If you are unsure about your sea time please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your eligibility for this exam.

Included in your Powerboat Advanced course fee are administration and certification costs along with all of your course materials including fuel and wet weather gear (often extras at other schools).

Pre Course Requirements

Participants embarking on this Advanced Powerboat course should be competent to the standard of Intermediate Powerboat with a thorough knowledge of navigation and chart work to the level of Dayskipper shorebased. Participants should also have completed a First Aid certificate, hold their VHF operators license and be over 17 years in age.

Our Powerboat Advanced courses can be carried out at anytime throughout the year and are scheduled according to demand. Depending on your situation this course can be conducted at our base in Golfe-Juan or as Own Boat Tuition onboard your boat or yacht tender anywhere in the world.
